hard maple is a great material for floors or walls when used properly. it can be stubborn when it comes to accepting stain, but perseverance pays off, at least it did for us.

we think we hit a home run with this particular oil finish, using a white oil over hard maple.  it really accentuates the soft grain found in maple, making it pop.

it’s a versatile look, capable of showing well in a traditional space and very well in contemporary settings.  in an environment without the advantage of a lot of natural light, this wide plank maple floor brightens things up, like a blanket of fresh snow.
